the disappearance of Deryl Lane

Couple years ago I was wasting time looking thru old Virginia Beach phonebooks, and found an extinct street.. Deryl Lane. It was a small loop off the end of Little Neck Rd back in the day. This was the final listing I saw of Deryl's existence, 1978 city directory. By 1980, it had been absorbed in to Little Neck (which must've been connected to Virginia Beach Blvd, during 1978-79?)

1960s map, showing Little Neck before it went to VB Blvd, and the loop comprised of Deryl Lane & Johnson Street..

Contemporary map showing Little Neck Rd, and how Deryl was absorbed in to it, along with how the south end of the loop was broken..

This is where Deryl lane would have ended prior to the '80s. Looks like the city separated Deryl from Johnson St, with a sidewalk, & broadened the end of Johnson in to an enclosed court.. Lower, left corner of this photo is Little Neck Road, running south to VB Blvd.
